One Message Received (Part 1)

One fateful night. One missent text. The rest is history.
I remembered him telling me on the phone last night that his name’s Sebastian, pero sa sobrang shunga ko, ang akala ko pinagtitripan lang ako ng mga kaibigan ko.
“Pasensya ka na. I am still drowning in shame kasi nagpalibre ako sa ’yo when in fact hindi tayo close. Teka lang, may salbabida ka bang dala dyan kasi kailangan kong makaahon sa hiya?” I blurted out and he laughed. At ang cute niya. Sarap maglaslas, sobrang nakakahiya!
“Wala akong salbabida pero may dala akong tabo, tulungan kitang maglimas?” he asked and I couldn’t help but smile. “So can you stay for coffee? Please stay, Sapphire, kahit ilang minutes lang.”
Hindi ako sumagot kasi nagdadalawang-isip pa rin ako.
“Sige na, malay mo di ba, this could be the beginning of a very beautiful friendship.”
Friendship daw? Friendship lang? At bakit daw ako disappointed?
Mr. So Wrong

I want my Mr. Right. So right now, I am taking a chance to get it. I lighted a candle and stood in front of the antique mirror. Nang tumunog ang relo senyales na eksaktong alas doce na, pumikit ako at buong pusong sinabi: ”Mirror of destiny, please show me the man I will love until eternity…”
My whole body was trembling from so much excitement. I slowly opened my eyes to look at the face of the man who will give me an eternal love.
At pumalya ang tibok ng puso ko nang mapansin ang isa pang imahe sa salamin—may nakatayo sa likuran ko.
“I-ikaw na ba?” Nanginginig ang kamay na hinaplos ko ang reflection ng lalaking di ko masyadong makilala.
“Brown out ba, Dandan?” untag ng estranghero.
Nangunot ang noo ko pagkarinig sa pamilyar na boses. Umikot ako at hinarap ang lalaki.
“Eduardo Miguel Varres!!!” tili ko.
Ngumisi lang ang lintsak na sumabotahe ng happy ever after ko.

“Clarence, let’s break up.”
Mabuti na lang at wala siyang hawak na tinidor o baso, kung hindi kasi, sigurado siyang nabitawan na niya iyon. Napakurap siya sa nobya. “What?”
“We’re not working out, Clarence, we need to break up,” di tumitingin sa kanyang anito.
“What the f*ck! What the hell are you talking about, Valeria?” asik niya.
“We need to break up. We need to stop this, Clarence.”
Gulat lang siyang napatitig ulit sa dalaga, hindi pa rin maproseso ng kanyang utak ang gustong mangyari ng kausap. Break-up? Sila? The concept was too foreign for him he couldn’t even imagine it.
How should one break up with someone you’ve been with all your life? How should one say goodbye to forever?
He loved her. He had always loved her. Sigurado rin siyang mahal siya ni Valeria. But apparently, love was not enough to keep them together….
